A Note from the Founder

My name is Simon Adams, founder of Source Florida.

For the past seven years, my work has centered on connecting people, organizations, resources, and communities. I've worked across philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, community organizing, programs, boards, and statewide initiatives.

And through all of those experiences, I kept running into the same problem:

There are incredible people, organizations, small businesses, programs, opportunities, and resources all around us. But finding the right one at the right moment can be unnecessarily difficult.

These are systems that even experienced, well-connected nonprofit professionals struggle to navigate, and that burden eventually falls on the person seeking help in the first place.

Too many times, you've searched until the results stopped meaning anything. You called a number that rang out, drove somewhere that had moved, or filled out a form that went nowhere. Somewhere along the way, someone told you that you didn't qualify, not because you didn't need help, but because of a number, a county line, or a date on a calendar.

It's exhausting.

And I believe we can do better.

It's not that our communities lack resources. It's that our communities lack real connection.

That is why I created Source Florida.

Source Florida is being built as a trusted local starting point, a place where someone can come with a question, a need, an idea, or a goal and get connected to the people, resources, opportunities, and next steps that make the most sense for them.

Not another endless directory.

Not another list of links to figure out on your own.

A real connection to what already exists around you.

My work has taken me across the country, from California to Florida, and it has reinforced something I believe deeply:

Lasting change starts local.

It happens when neighbors share what they know. When organizations know who else is doing the work. When local businesses and communities support one another. And when someone who has already found a resource, opportunity, mentor, program, or solution makes it easier for the next person to find it too.

Because the challenges people around us face aren't unfamiliar. They're happening in our families, churches, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. And many times, somebody nearby already knows something that could help.

The opportunity is to connect those dots.

At a time when funding, institutions, and systems can change overnight, I believe our communities need something deeper and more sustainable: strong local networks of people who know how to find one another, support one another, and move forward together.

My hope is that Source Florida becomes part of that infrastructure, not another directory filled with links, but a living network built around connection, service, trust, and love for the places we call home.

We spend so much of our attention looking outward. Source Florida is an invitation to look around, too, to invest our knowledge, our resources, and our faith in the people and places around us, and make the path a little easier for the next person.
