A Note from the Founder

My name is Simon Adams, founder of Source Florida.

For the past seven years, my focus has been on connecting people, organizations, resources, and communities, as I’ve worked to develop statewide initiatives through grassroots engagement, nonprofit leadership, philanthropic strategy and partnership management.

Even with this aerial view at times, I’ve seen how difficult it can be to find the right support at the right moment for someone in need.

Our communities are full of people with knowledge to share, organizations doing meaningful work, small businesses, programs, and opportunities. Yet even experienced, well-connected nonprofit professionals struggle to navigate these systems and too often that causes the burden to fall on the person seeking help.

You may know that frustration. You call a number that rings unanswered, drive to an office that has moved, or fill out a form that leads nowhere. Then a number, a county line, or a deadline determines that you don’t qualify, and you’re left in the same place you started but now you just wasted a bunch of time.

It’s exhausting. And I believe we can do better.

Source Florida is being built to be a trusted local starting point: a place to bring a question, a need, an idea, or a goal and connect with the people, resources, opportunities, and next steps that make sense for you.

The goal is more than a directory. It’s a real connection to what already exists around you.

After traveling coast-to-coast in search of answers I’ve found one truth I can say with absolute confidence: lasting change starts local.

It happens when neighbors share what they know, organizations know who else is doing the work, and local businesses and communities support one another. When someone doesn’t just find a resource, program, or opportunity and keep it moving, but rather shares it with the next person to make their path easier.

These challenges are present in our families, churches, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. Often, somebody nearby already knows something that could help.

The goal of Source Florida is to connect those dots.

We understand that funding shifts and institutional drifts are inevitable, but strong local networks can sustain these changes and help communities keep moving forward.

We spend so much of our attention looking outward. Source Florida is an invitation to look inward, and around us. To invest our knowledge, our resources, and our faith in the people and places within the communities we call home.
